 | At present, approximately 30% of managers of large European companies are women. When it comes to the highest position, however, statistics reveal that women occupy only 2% of those presidents or CEOs.
Gobal level, the U.S. is leader in promoting women to executive positions. Feminist campaigns and a better orientation of educational policies are the main factors contributed to this performance.
In Eastern Europe the situation is different from the rest of Europe: a survey among the largest 200 companies in 13 Eastern European countries shows that only 8% of key posts are held by women. Different mentalities, education and professional orientation are determinants of these differences.
The word "woman manager" tell us that women in management positions is still, for most, an unusual phenomenon. How often have heard the phrase "man manager"? All these "habits" language can show a clear fact: the mentality of the current managers are men while women must prove they can also be managers.
For a key post means special responsibility, hard work, good health, an almost exclusive dedication towards career. To reconcile family life with the job requests become a major problem.
Then, if the woman-director want to be a mother, will be almost impossible to keep everything under control. That's because a child is not merely a few days spent on maternity. But lot of time and energy devoted to his growth.
We have equal rights: we work as much as men, in the same areas, the same wages or even higher wages. But our responsibilities are not equal: we must take care in most cases the house and the child and even ... he! :)
It is natural that the number of women in management positions to increase as living standards, with a better professional orientation, education level.
But we must be confident: slowly, the natural course of things, "woman manager" will cease to be a freak and will become normal. "Woman manager" becomes "manager".
